Weeklong Absence

I am sorry I have not been here.
Actually that is not true, I have been here, but my #*&$%^&%$$$#$#% computer has not.
It is now fixed but lovely patterns and pictures and emails and links and...
You name it, it has departed for the nether land of computer world.
Arrgghh.
Knitting has been good - I am 1/3 of the way into hint 2 of the Secret of the Stole, 2/3 of the way through a pair of Fetchings and well, let's just say I have 3 separate socks on the needles, two of which have been to the frogpond and Firestarters, that will be visiting the frogpond.
I need to find my sites and my background settings and my brain and my ...
We are well and breathing, if not slightly stressed.
Does anyone know what website it was that gave a Nunavit windows setting?

le comptoir

I have found a computer and will say hello!
The birthday party on July 2nd was a resounding success and the tour of the Falls was wonderful!!!
The gurlz are currently far away and I may just go over to the bar for a little drink.
It's early yet.
There is a prom in the hotel tonight and it is madness I say!! The amount of money these kids are spending. WOW.
I wish to confess that I have overconfident driving issues and as a result drove up and down two separate streets last night and had to turn around four times in total.
Talk to you later!

blogging woes, links and....

disclaimer - I am not speaking about anyone specifically, just venting about what i have issues with - it's an ethical warzone in my head speaking of which that reminds me of a song - Zombie, by the Cranberries. Love that song. and now that song is in my head and ARRRRRRRRRGGGGHHH
I'm not liking this inability of mine to add peoples' adorable LINK buttons on the side. I mane - I don;'t want a listing of names, I want the cute buttons - instant art. I'm not even going to try to create my own and why oh why does the actual post look nothing like what you created?
Here's another question - what are all these extras on facebook? I like it because it is 'almost' a chat room, but you have control and limit access to personal info and stuff. I don't want to superpoke someone - sorry but if I was going for superpoke .... well I WANT TO REALLY ENJOY IT!!!! And fortune cookies and virtual food fights - HELLO - I really want to throw a pie at you not just pretend!!! And slideshow applications and top friends WHAT? sorry - but I lose the pictures I do upload and I'm not into rating my friends.
And why do you have to tell me everything that everyone is doing? If I want to know what they are doing, I will go to their 'page or site' or whatever and read it. OR even better - if they really wanted me to know, they would tell me.
The other thing I don't understand is when people are facebooking or blogging or surfing the net - a lot of people do it while they are at work - and it has nothing to do with their job. Now, if you own your own company - great go to town on it. But if you are an employee - Hello?!?!?! I don't think you should be doing that. I've gotten to the point, where I am not even sending personal emails from work, and I don't open any links/attachments - even from internal coworkers - unless I know it is about work. Why? I just can't - Last month I printed some patterns from Knitty off - cause the work printer does it so well(both sides and all that), and I checked an ebay buy from work. I am still waiting for them to call me on the carpet for this. WHY? because it's not my computer, it's not my internet, printer or paper and it had nothing to do with my job (although I did wear the shoes to work so maybe - NO). I did do it on my 'break' but that doesn't give me the right to pursue personal interests on work assets. But some people expect it or just think they can do it.
I have used it for legitimate work purposes and am fine with that - Last week for example, I was researching hotels for my training the first week of July - I did it at work, because I kept forgetting to at home and because, it was for work. I don't feel guilty about that.
Huff and puff here as I get my frustrations out.
I will try to be positive and crafty tomorrow, but I'm done for now.

caffeine...not good?!!?!?

Started the day off okay, but it went downhill.
Upset stomach most of the day. I'm tossing between faulting the coffee or the peanut butter. This is MAJOR problem. They are big favourites and if they are setting me off, then I am in trouble.
But that aside, the lawn is mowed and trimmed to the extent that my 25? foot cord would reach. If that is 50 feet it is really short. This even with the direct energy sales guy coming round to lock in my rates for five years and... HELLO?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Not living single and free have things to do. Can't you just send me a letter or something and I will read it next year??
The special project at work is progressing very very slowly. Wanted to be done by end of tomorrow so wouldn't have to deal with it after the long weekend. Guess not.
Ruined a legal assistant's day today. I DID NOT MEAN TO. I didn't write the ITA, I just do what they tell me.
Knitting was done last night on the socks. Would have progressed further, however measured out the remaining yarn versus the amount needed per row in order to determine when to start the ribbed cuff. I have enough for approximately 20 more rows and since 10 rows make about an inch, I will do 10 more stockinette and 10 ribbed and they will be done. I could start the second set of pull skeins, but I want them to match with my almost black - contrast heels and toes. It will probably happen tomorrow night as tonight I still have to fold the laundry on my bed and empty the dryer and... if I could actually find the letters I wanted on the keyboard this would go much faster.
I was shocked! astounded! almost speechless! so happy! validated! to see that the great Wendy Knits used the same sock pattern as me. Here is me with my first pair of socks using the same toe and heel that she is. WOW.
Her blog is having comments issues though so I couldn't tell her.
I love the grasshopper socks she is knitting. Please visit her for more information and don't steal anything. But maybe I have done just what she said not to? Can anyone tell me if I have hotlinked her or just linked her by putting the comment in my post???? I put a link ont he side and I know that is okay. I think it is okay cause, I have seen similar links in hers but I hope I can sleep tonight over this.
arrgghh excuse me a moment while I go review what she was talking about
Okay, okay I think I have done this right. Thank you Wendy for your links and guides to internet etiquette. This blogging thing is harder than I thought. I mean, I know how to write, but there are so many RULES!!!!!
Taking allergy meds tonight as not good at all. Only doing a half (yes mom) and hopefully will not totally destroy me. (of course if the little one wakes up screaming from gas pain twice again tonight it won't matter anyways).

And I did what?

I need to clarify something. On Saturday night, when I blogged, I stated i would probably end up on the couch. Imagine my surprise when not only did I not, but all the laundry was folded and basketted (gurlz) and mine was put away. Then I made my bed with the clean sheets (after despidering one) and crawled in. What inspired me? I put those very dirty clothes in the wash, and since I don't trust my laundry pipes, I had to stay up until the load was done and hung up. Which reminds me, it should be dry by now.
I am not anti-technology, ore dryer/TV but the dryer is broke and a lot of the clothes don't dryer well. With regards to TV - we were looking at getting one for Christmas, however the house purchase and all that took up more of our $$ then expected and really, we don't want a TV. Our computer is great for showing DVDs and this way, I have extra space for my craft supplies.
Work was, well work. I realize that i didn't do a whole lot last week - shuffle papers it seemed. That's actually being a little harsh on myself, but it was the 'middle work'. The get started on it, send letters and then wait for information that looks like nothing got done work. Made up for it today, and will tomorrow too.

Question - do those baby carrots in the little bags go bad? or could they have salmonella poisoning on them? or is only eating baby carrots for dinner because you are driving your gurl to ballet and have no time not a good thing? I had good intentions, however when I left work, it downpoured and I got wet (my knitting and purse didn't cause I covered them with my coat). Anyways, I didn't dry before I got home, so I quick changed into my comfy cozies and then I remembered that the minister needed to be paid (cause you know when you go to church with it and don't see him just before you leave it comes home with you) and ended up on the phone with him for a couple of minutes and then horrors of horrors nothing healthy in the fridge except baby carrots.
The gurlz had crackers and cheese and big glass of milk. The minister got his cheque.

The hat fits. I picked up the stitches for the brim and got into that during lunch. May not be going to the wedding shower cause not sure what to do with the big gurl. Might see if Melinda wants her for about six hours. Mel - let me know when you read this.
Am looking at the next project and also at the UFOs. Can't decide what to do, cause to start the socks, i need to pick up matching circulars (otherwise I will finish one but never the other). Thought about Fetching/Dashing or maybe a poncho/capelet. The knit.1 zine with the pattern for the hat has a delightful one, and I have some yarn that would make a lovely one. But then I want to try needle felting on it and then...

What I need to do is the dishes and then find the papers for the work meeting.
And the lasagna, and that bill sitting in front of me that is due on... Saturday?!?!?! Why? Can't they just go the extra distance to put it on the next normal business day? arrgghh

That coat I mentioned earlier? I wore it on Saturday too, a nice lightweight jean jacket. Last time I wore it was December 15 or so - when I changed my address on my licence and ownership. Found the ownership and insurance folder in the pocket (along with some sort of cookie). That answers the beginning of April question and the tearing up of the car for it.

have a great night!

OH - to do my governmental duty - taxes are due April 30th folks - you've got a week.

The beginning of...

OK - this is the second try at this. I am a single mom with two girls just surviving the day to day of life and here is my blog.
I am inspired by Finny Knits, Knitsy Bitsy Spider, Woof Nanny and a few others - check my list of favourite sites.
The pictures are coming, but my thoughts of how it should work and technologies ideas - they don't always go hand in hand.
I have to confess that you may find words in here that well aren't really words. If I can't think of or find the right word, I create it.
